Mass displacement in Lebanon: Give now

by Mercy Corps

UPDATE 10/22/2024: Mercy Corps' most recent report from the region estimates that more than 400,000 Syrian and Lebanese refugees have entered Syria, fleeing the conflict in Lebanon.

The situation will likely remain in flux and the needs of the displaced people will evolve in the coming days and weeks. Our current response plans include providing both Lebanese and Syrians with cash assistance, food kits, hygiene kits, and winterization items including blankets, clothing, and shoes.

The recent surge in violence between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in Lebanon is spreading like wildfire. It threatens a wider regional conflict and stability in the Middle East.

Monday, September 23 marked the single deadliest day in Lebanon since the 2006 Lebanon War.

In addition, more than 212,000 people have fled and are now displaced across the country. Pressure on already-vulnerable communities and aid organizations trying to support families impacted by conflict is reaching critical levels.

Mercy Corps and our local partners are meeting the most urgent needs of displaced people and host families who are already under stress from the prolonged economic crisis. We are ramping up our humanitarian response to meet the needs of newly displaced people and host communities. We will provide hot meals in shelters, food baskets, and things like hygiene kits, mattresses and pillows.

Since October 2023, Mercy Corps has provided lifesaving assistance in the south of Lebanon, providing essential items to meet urgent needs of displaced families, including food and hygiene kits and meals.

To date Mercy Corps has:
-Served 41,955 meals to more than 300 families, and
-Distributed food and non-food items to 5,731 families

Your support will go where it is needed most, helping us mobilize our teams in response to humanitarian crises around the world. Mercy Corps teams are already on the ground where help is most needed. We work in more than 40 countries alongside communities as they prepare for, protect against, and recover from crisis.
