Turkish Red Crescent Society shares the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement which are humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, volunteer service, unity and universality.
The Society is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based social service institution providing unconditional aid and service, and is a corporate body governed by special legal provisions.
The organization is comprised of the general headquarters and branches. The duties and responsibilites undertaken in all levels of the Organization, other than the Headquarters, are honorary.

Current Action: Building Resilience Against COVID-19

First seen in the month of December 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan, which was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, as of March 11, 2020, in Turkey first COVID 19 case was seen on March 10. Turkish Red Crescent is aiming to provide support under below pillars within the scope of striving Covid19 disease impact;
- Providing Personal Protective Equipment Set (PPE) support to physicians and assistant healthcare personnel across the country who are on the forefront of combat against COVID 19.
- Providing support thru food packages to elderly over 65 who are not allowed to leave their homes; and people in need with lower income levels including people who are impacted because of the shutdowns of restaurants/cafes.
- Within the scope of Corona Solidarity Project activities, it also provides education and awareness studies.

Food Distribution: Turkish Red Crescent provides three meals for approximately 11 thousand people coming from abroad and quarantined at 28 points, meeting the needs of citizens over 65 years of age or chronic illness with its branches and volunteers, and also providing support to “Vefa Social Support Groups”.

The food packages to be distributed to 100 thousand families in need who are getting their food thru food banks and who are impacted as a result of recent shutdowns of restaurants/cafes because of COVID-19 measure.

Education and Awareness Studies: Turkish Red Crescent organizes awareness raising trainings against the new coronavirus outbreak with preventive medicine services.
The Turkish Red Crescent, with ongoing studies to be most affected by the recent crisis against the threat of coronavirus, which is expected to support members of the community and aims to increase community solidarity.

Hygiene package includes following materials; Shampoo, eau de cologne, hand soap, tooth, paste, toothbrush, bleach, washing liquid, dish sponge, toilet paper and paper towels. (18 USD)

Support Package for Healthcare Professionals includes following materials; 3-layered surgical mask, FFP2 Valve-FFP3 masks, goggles, glove, protective overalls and overshoe. (23 USD)
