Americares Responds: 7.4 earthquake strikes Colombia

by AMERICARES FOUNDATION INC

A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake has struck western Colombia, devastating communities and leaving families searching for loved ones trapped beneath the rubble.

The death toll is nearing 200, nearly 5,000 homes have been damaged and 24 health facilities have been severely impacted. As rescue efforts continue, access to urgent medical care, medicines, clean water, and essential supplies are crucial to survival.

Americares Colombia team is actively assessing health needs and coordinating closely with local and national responders. We are ready to provide medicines, medical supplies and other emergency aid to affected communities as needs are identified.

We have supported health care in the country since 1985, improving access to medicines and health services for underserved communities and responding to disasters with emergency medical aid and recovery support.

With dozens of health facilities damaged and access to critical medical care and clean water disrupted, support is urgently needed to ensure affected communities receive the care they need.

Your gift to the Americares Worldwide Disaster Fund helps our emergency response teams provide lifesaving medicines, medical supplies, and health services to people affected by the earthquake in Colombia and other crises around the world.
