The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) works in more than 190 countries and territories to put children first. UNICEF has helped save more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization, by providing health care and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more. UNICEF USA supports UNICEF's work through fundraising, advocacy and education in the United States. Together, we are working toward the day when no children die from preventable causes and every child has a safe and healthy childhood.
Support UNICEF in Response to Disruptions in U.S. Foreign Aid
UNICEF remains determined to deliver lifesaving support to children as we have for more than 75 years. As we work through the implications of the recent disruptions in foreign aid, there is an urgent need for flexible funding to address gaps in lifesaving programs for children.
The United States Government has been an important and generous donor throughout our history, their generosity has enabled us to save millions of lives and help children all over the world fulfill their potential.
UNICEF works to help children everywhere survive and thrive. The U.S. Government has been a crucial partner in supporting UNICEF's work to deliver results for children. But now, the sudden disruption of foreign aid is impacting critical work and affecting millions of children and families.
Without immediate action, millions of children could lose access to safe drinking water, basic sanitation, education, life-saving medications, supply delivery, and protection from violence and exploitation.
UNICEF provides lifeline to millions of children in 190 countries around the world. Some examples of UNICEF’s work in the first half of 2024 include:
1. Helped 26.4 million children and women access primary health care
2. Delivered clean drinking water to 17.4 million people
3. Provided 9.7 million children access to education
4. Reached 12.6 million adolescents and caregivers with access to mental health and psychosocial support
At this moment, and as the situation continues to evolve, we urgently need your support more than ever to help UNICEF continue to meet the critical needs of children. We ask you to be as generous as possible in these unprecedented times.
