Water For People

Water For People works in nearly 40 districts in nine countries to promote the development of high-quality, reliable drinking water and sanitation services that are accessible to all and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments. We call this impact model Everyone Forever.

Everyone means safe water and sanitation services are accessible to every family, clinic, and school. Water For People works to reach every single person – even the hardest to reach, the most vulnerable, and the marginalized. To date, we have supported approximately 5 million people in gaining access to water and sanitation.

But reaching Everyone is just the beginning. We want to make sure water and sanitation services are sustainable Forever. This means working from the ground up – empowering communities, businesses, and governments to invest in the long-term solutions that are right for them. Forever means water supplies are protected, managing institutions are funded and functional, and communities are aid-independent. It means water and sanitation services are sustained for generations to come.

Forever is the far more difficult half of Everyone Forever – and the piece that is often missing from water sector work. But we know it’s critical from the very beginning, because we want to make sure the districts we work in – and eventually entire countries – will never need to rely on a water and sanitation NGO again.
